A relaxed, free tech meetup - every other Wednesday, 6:30-8:00 PM, at The Guild or our Unit 5 workshop. What a night looks like is on the home page. If your question isn't answered below, just turn up and ask it in person.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes - there's no membership and nothing to pay on the door, and donations are welcome, never expected. Hot drinks are included at The Guild; at the workshop, bring your own drinks and snacks.
Where is it?
Regular nights are at The Guild in the city centre, and the hands-on side lives in our workshop unit at the Carlisle Enterprise Centre. The events list says which space a night is at. Photos, parking and directions for both are on the spaces page.
Do I need to work in tech?
Nope - everyone's welcome. Half of us just like gadgets. Students, hobbyists and people thinking about a career change all turn up.
Are there talks?
Now and then a member shows something they've built, learned or broken - long or short, deep dive or just a story, and watching is optional. If you fancy doing one, say so here.
Can I bring someone?
Yes - you're welcome to bring a guest, just message the host first so we know the numbers. They're capped for health and safety: 20 a night at The Guild, 5 at the workshop.
What if I don't know anybody?
Say hello to whoever's nearest. That's how the rest of us started.
What time does it finish?
The Guild is booked until 8, with things winding down from about 7:45. At the workshop we can run a little later if people are deep in something. Either way, leaving early doesn't mean missing anything.
Anything I should know before a workshop session?
Two rules: power tools are used only when somebody experienced is there to supervise, and under-18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Beyond that, a session is bring-what-you're-building - or pitch in on whatever group build is going.
